Tips On Tenafly Landscaping Maintenance

By Laura Stevens

Landscape maintenance is the art and vocation of keeping the ground safe, clean, healthy and attractive. Through maintaining the ground you can prevent any damages to the ground such as soil erosion. It takes a lot of maintenance for the ground to last in the beautiful and attractive scenery. Below are the merits of Tenafly landscaping maintenance

Mowing is one important tip in ensuring your landscape remains superb. How you do, the mowing matters. Constant and regular moving is imperative in maintaining your lawn. Mowing your turf weekly will produce desired results. Do not let your lawn overgrow.

Edging is another activity that makes the ground look amazing. After winter when the snows melt, you have a lawn that needs edging. After applying fertilizer and watering your lawn, your attention should go to edging as it gives the lawn an appealing design. You have two tools to choose from when edging your lawn; you can use an electric or gas-powered edging tool.

Consider the edging. Do the edging nicely such that a clear separation between bed area and turf is very visible. Edging will also prevent the grass from overgrowing especially in the bed area. You can use a weed eater or a gas edger for this purpose.

Ensure you also control the weeds in your turf. Herbicides and manual plucking are the two commonly used methods for this purpose. If you decide to use an herbicide, ensure you use a selective herbicide. A selective herbicide will kill the weeds and leave your grass intact. The other most preferred method is hand plucking. The method is very efficient especially if the weeds are still sprouting. Do not let the weeds go so long before you pluck them out. It will ensure that the roots do not grow so firmly to the ground.

Moss is another issue that can destroy the appearance of your landscape. It grows mostly in poorly lit and shady parts of your turf. The best thing about mowing will expose these parts and prevents further growth. If they are overgrown, you may consider applying the liquid iron to destroy them. You can then use a rake to remove them and plant more grass in the regions they previously occupied. However, you should be very careful when applying liquid iron as it is only effective when sprayed during the spring. Spraying in warm temperature will only destroy your lawn.

Fertilizers are also a requirement for turf to do well. To avoid damage to the soil, it is recommended that you use organic fertilizers as too much use of the other fertilizers can do damage to the turf. Proper application of fertilizer makes it produce a dense medium to dark-green turf that is able to resist environmental stress and pests. Successful turf maintenance fertilization requires you to strictly assess your turfs nutritional requirements, know how much to apply and when and use proper application techniques.

Keeping your lawn healthy and beautiful can sometimes be a real bear. However, the way and the time you mow, water and fertilizer availability and weed control can effectively help considerably when maintaining a healthy landscape. Keeping unnecessary growth such as moss will also keep your lawn attractive, aerated, appealing and healthy. Once you consider these important tips, your turf will remain splendid.
